How to set up Plesk
Set up hosting
Locate the Plesk panel details in the client area once logged in and click on ‘My Services’, then click on ‘View details’. Here you’ll see your server details as well as a link to the control panel, along with your username and password. Click the link to open a new window.
At this point you may see an SSL warning but it is ok to proceed by adding to your exceptions list. Fill in your username and password and click ‘Log In’.
First you’ll need to set up a domain. Log into the control panel and click on ‘Subscriptions’ and add new. Enter a new domain name specifying an FTP username and password. Set the service plan to ‘unlimited’ and hit GO. You can now go ahead and configure as necessary.
To create and manage a database, click on the required domain in subscriptions. Then click the ‘Websites & Domains’ tab and ‘Databases’ button to ‘Add New Database’. Fill in the required information and hit OK. Give it a username and password and keep these safe, then your database should be ready for use.
To manage the database, click on ‘Webadmin’ and open PHPMyAdmin in a new window. Then you can manage as required.
You can preview a website in your browser by clicking the preview icon.
It’s generally a good idea to take a backup of your database with PHPMyAdmin manually. This will help to protect against accidental deletions and means there is no single point of failure by backing up in Plesk.
Using PHPMyAdmin you can manually export your database, which is very suitable for small and medium businesses. Log in to your Plesk account and navigate to subscriptions. Click on ‘Website & Domains’. Click on ‘Databases’ and name the one you want to back up. Then click on Webadmin’ to open the PHPMyAdmin in a new window and ‘Export’. Choose how you want to export your database and then hit ‘Go’,
