SPF Protection from Email Spoofing

Lydia .

Ever been aware of spam emails appearing to come from within your company?

Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is an email validation system designed to combat identity ‘borrowing’ and prevent email spoofing/spam by verifying the senders IP Addresses.

The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) allows any computer to send email claiming to be from any source address.  By using SPF, you can specify in your DNS Records which computers are authorized to send mail from that domain.

Nimbus have a SPF generator for the domains you have registered with us. To access it, just login to youraccount.nimbushosting.co.uk, click on Domains -> DNS Manager -> (GO next to drop down Domain name)  – > Generate SPF.  Use the tickboxes to enter the information about how you will be using your domain to send mail, add any additional hostnames/IP’s (such as if you use mailchimp), hit ‘Add this Record’ and you are all done!

The SPF method does not completely protect you from Spoofing, but along with a good antivirus on your machine too, it will go a long way to protecting you. Drop us a line or email to support if you require any further assistance.
